We use hot water extraction, which is the only method approved by most carpet manufacturers. Hot water extraction is the most thorough cleaning method available.
Q.2
What should I do to prepare for carpet cleaning?
Please remove breakables and small items from any tables you would like to have moved. We can move most furniture including chairs, tables, sofas, and ottomans. We cannot move desks, electronics, pianos, grandfather clocks, and certain other pieces. We recommend tying up any floor length curtains or bed skirts. For safety reasons we ask that you make sure your children and pets are away from the work areas.
Q.3
How long will it take to dry?
There are several variables such as humidity, temperature, and air circulation, but most carpet should be fairly dry in 6 – 12 hours. Our powerful equipment will leave your carpet in a slightly damp condition, resulting in the fastest dry times possible. You can remove the protective blocks from under your furniture after 24 hours.
Q.4
What kind of spotter should I use?
We carry a spotter that is approved by the Carpet and Rug Institute. Our product is safe for all carpet fibers. We recommend avoiding the common products sold in stores because they contain harsh surfactants and optical brighteners which can damage your carpet. Always use paper towels to remove as much material as possible first. If you ever have an ink or cosmetic stain, don’t try to remove it! You can permanently set the stain by introducing moisture. Give us a call for assistance with difficult stain removal.
Q.5
How often should I have my carpet cleaned?
Carpet manufacturers recommend a professional hot water extraction cleaning every 12 to 18 months. Depending on your household, you may need a more frequent cleaning.
Q.6
We are pretty clean people, we take our shoes off and vacuum regularly. Do we still need to get the carpet cleaned once a year?
Yes. Carpet acts like a filter, trapping contaminates that fall out of the air such as dust, animal dander, dead skin cells, allergens, and pollutants. Cooking oils, and oils from your skin stick to carpet fibers and attract dirt. Soil is tracked in along with pesticides, mold, bacteria, and chemicals. Regular cleaning is especially important to those with asthma or allergies. Professional hot water extraction carpet cleaning is an important part of your maintenance program for many reasons, the most important being the health of you and your family. Most carpet warranties require a professional hot water extraction cleaning to retain coverage.
